The Swedish massage is a type of Western massage known for improving circulation and muscle tone. It is the foundation for sports massage, deep tissue massage, aromatherapy massage, and other popular Western-style massages.
Based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology, and pathology – as opposed to energy work on “meridians” that are the focus in many Asian massage systems – therapists utilize this type of massage to stimulate and flush the circulatory system, address muscle tension-length imbalances, restore range of motion, and to relieve pain.

Shiatsu is a Japanese massage modality that combines acupressure, joint range of motion, and stretching to regulate the automatic nervous system activity and stimulates the circulatory, lymphatic and hormonal systems. Shiatsu aims to balance the whole body by correcting poor alignment and bringing awareness to tension plagued areas. Individuals that are seeking better stress management tools, postural awareness, better joint health, pain management for conditions such as: sprains, arthritis, sciatica, acute and chronic neck and back pain may find solace in a session of shiatsu.
Shiatsu is performed on a massage mat while the receiver is fully clothed. Please wear something comfortable: long sleeves, pants, and socks. Preferably clothes that allow for better movement like leggings, yoga or fitness clothes.
